How long are sheep pregnant?
Sheep gestation runs about 144 to 152 days from breeding, averaging around 147, or about five months. Counting from the breeding date gives the most reliable estimate of when lambs are due.

Stages of pregnancy
Early pregnancy shows few signs. Through the second half the ewe’s abdomen widens and the udder develops, and scanning at around day 45 to 90 confirms pregnancy and counts lambs.
Knowing whether a ewe carries singles, twins or triplets lets you feed and manage her appropriately in late gestation.
Preparing for the birth
Move ewes to a clean, sheltered lambing area a week or so before the due date and increase energy feed in the final six weeks, when most lamb growth happens. Have iodine for navels and clean towels ready.
Separation from the flock, pawing the ground and udder filling are signs lambing is close.
When to call the vet
Call a vet if a ewe passes about 152 to 155 days, strains over 30 to 60 minutes without a lamb, or shows a lamb in the wrong position, since multiples can present awkwardly. This tool is for planning only and does not replace veterinary care.
